  • How do I find a landscaper that I can trust?

The best way to find a reputable landscaper or landscaping company near you is by word of mouth. Ask your friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues if they have worked with someone they recommend. Another source is reading reviews and checking out company websites to see what kind of projects they’ve worked on. The Better Business Bureau is a very good source as well. For reliable local landscapers, give us a call today.

  • Do you do free estimates?

Yes, maintenance estimates are always free. Please call (303) 684-9484 to get yours scheduled. For reliable local landscapers, give us a call today.

  • When is the best time to revamp or install landscaping?

We recommend spring or fall for planting trees or shrubs because of warm days and cool nights. Spring is optimal for all plant material due to the increased precipitation that assists plant establishment. For reliable landscaping contractors, give us a call today.

  • What is landscaping vs. hardscaping?

Modern landscaping refers to the designing, planning, and construction of gardens and other driving features that create usable space for outdoor activities and enhance the appearance of a home. Hardscaping includes non-organic materials such as stone or woodwork, retaining walls, decks, firepits, and more. For reliable landscaping contractors, give us a call today.

  • When should I aerate my lawn?

We recommend three aerations per year, one in the spring, mid-summer, and fall. Aeration is great for any lawn as it helps the soil to transfer water and nutrients to the roots in the turfgrass. It is especially useful in areas of high foot traffic with compacted soil. For reliable landscaping contractors, give us a call today.

  • When and why should I fertilize my lawn?

Fertilizing your lawn is a necessary lawn care task that ensures your lawn has the proper nutrients for healthy growth and attractive quality. Here at Ward’s Lawn Service, we recommend 5 applications, once every 6 weeks starting in April. For reliable landscaping contractors, give us a call today.

  • Why is mowing the right height and in alternating patterns so important?

Having your grass cut at the right height (we recommend 3.5 inches) will cause less stress that could negatively impact your lawn. Grass too short will burn in the heat and grass that is too tall takes excessive nutrients and water. It is recommended that you alternate mowing patterns each time you mow to prevent the grass from growing in one direction or laying over which makes mowing more difficult. For reliable landscaping contractors, give us a call today.

  • How often should I mow my lawn?

The specific length of time will vary based on your type of grass, your area's weather patterns, and soil nutrients. You may end up mowing several times per week, once a week, or every other week. Never cut more than a 1/3” off of the grass blade. For reliable landscaping contractors, give us a call today.

  • Do I need an irrigation system?

Irrigation systems do the hard work so you don’t have to! Irrigation systems eliminate the use of hoses daily and efficiently water in a uniform systematic manner. Irrigation systems are placed sub-surface. This process allows for a clean-looking landscape.

The system can be programmed to run multiple times daily with a variety of time durations to ensure shrubs, turf, perennials, and gardens all receive different watering.  We only use professional, name-brand irrigation sprinklers. For reliable landscaping contractors, give us a call today.

  • How much water does my lawn need throughout the year?

During hot summer months when temperatures rise above 90°, cool-season lawns can start to go dormant and turn brown until cooler weather and enough moisture can reach the soil. During the hot summer months, we recommend watering 2-3 inches of water a week. During cooler months, a healthy lawn needs 1-2 inches of water per week. Having too much moisture can cause diseases and other issues. For reliable landscaping contractors, give us a call today.
